Study Tours are organized educational trips that allow students to explore new countries and cultures while deepening their subject-specific knowledge. These tailor-made excursions provide a unique opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge from their studies into real-world contexts. During a Study Tour, participants visit companies, universities, research institutions, and cultural sites to gain insights into specific industries or fields of study. The programs are led by experienced academics and tour guides who create an enriching learning environment and provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the visited locations. In addition to the academic aspect, Study Tours also offer the chance to establish international contacts and gather intercultural experiences. Participants often return with valuable insights and a broader perspective that enriches their academic and personal development. In addition most of our study tours are interdisciplinary tours with faculty members and students from our faculty of engineering. Overall, Study Tours are an inspiring opportunity for students to expand their horizons and enhance their academic journey with unforgettable experiences.
Since 2012, the Faculty of Business (graduate program MU in HUGS) and the Faculty of Engineering have been organizing Study Tours to partner universities around the world (almost) every semester. The faculty key members who have been instrumental in organizing the majority of these Study Tours are Prof. Dr. Peter Ott and Prof. Dr. Ansgar Meroth from the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ralf Dillerup, Leonie Kontusch and myself, Prof. Dr. Susanne Wilpers, from the Faculty of Business.
Here, I present a selection of Study Tours (incomplete) in more detail, that I had the privilege to accompany.
One week can change lives.
I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to visit Mysuru and Bengaluru with a group of fifteen talented students from our Business Master Program HUGS.
