Milan, a metropolis in the Lombardy region of northern Italy, is known worldwide as a center for fashion and design. In addition, the city is home to the Milan Stock Exchange and the financial industry and offers many upscale restaurants and expensive boutiques. The Gothic Milan Cathedral and the Santa Maria delle Grazie Monastery, which houses Leonardo da Vinci's mural "The Last Supper," are expressions of the city's centuries-old artistic and cultural history.
