Studying electronics at Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences met all my needs and satisfied my thirst for knowledge of electronics. The family atmosphere in the university enabled me to develop as a person. During the subsequent doctorate it was the professors and staff of the Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences who supported me and shaped my future career.”

Programme Structure

In the course of your studies you will learn to design and operate state-of-the-art electronic systems while studying bilingual.

The programme is oriented on future requirements for successful engineers. That includes a strong focus on “Systems Engineering” capabilities. You will learn the technical “language of engineers” (simulation, specification, etc.). Mastering this form of communication, in combination with a profound technical knowledge, leads to a successful career as an engineer especially in international teams.

During the basic studies you will learn all the necessary basics in the fields of mathematics, computer science, physics and electrical engineering. Since the first year is taught in English, you have also the opportunity to improve your German language skills with an obligatory intensive German course.

In the advanced study period, which is taught mainly in German, you have the opportunity to specialize according to your preferences and strengths. For this purpose, you can choose between specializations in the fields of power electronics and information technology. These range from microcontroller programming, digital signal and image processing, control engineering, networked systems to power converters, electrical drives and the associated circuit in technology.

You will conclude your studies with a Bachelor's thesis, which is often conducted in the strong local world-wide oriented industry.

With us you will learn in a practical way and make contacts with the industry during your studies.

Career Prospects

While development in most of the basic technologies is rather stagnant, a strong innovative push is also expected in the future in electrical engineering and electronics. Accordingly, there are great opportunities to find a job with a secure future. Numerous opportunities are offered by manufacturers of electrical and electronic devices, the chemical industry, mechanical and plant engineering, automotive manufacturers and suppliers, IT and communications companies and last but not least, the public services. Subjects like Business Administration, Working Techniques and Project Management also qualify you for leadership roles. The current DEKRA employment market report shows: Excellent job opportunities for electrical engineers!
