Application

We will open the online application portal approx.

  • from the end of November for the summer term and
  • from the end of April / beginning of May for the winter term.

Bachelor's degree programmes

For the application you also need a study orientation test. These tests are free of charge and last approx. 15 to 20 minutes.

Please choose one of the following tests (only available in German):

Master's degree programmes

For Master's degree programmes the study orientation test ("Studienorientierungstest") is not required.

The state of Baden-Württemberg has passed a law introducing tuition fees for international students not from EU/EEA countries as well as for second degree students.

Under certain conditions, interested parties can apply for a bachelor's degree without a high school diploma.

Bachelor's degree programmes

You can apply to Heilbronn University of Applied Science for a maximum of 3 programmes simultaneously.

Please enclose all required application documents to each study subject.

You can apply to Heilbronn University of Applied Science for a maximum of 
3 related Master's degree programmes - within a cluster. See here.

Applicants with foreign certificates must first ensure that the certificates are recognized at the studienkolleg college in Konstanz. The certificate recognition contains information about the average grade converted into the German grading system and the subject area. With your certificate recognition and all other application documents, you can then apply to Heilbronn University.

If you do not have a school certificate when you apply for a bachelor’s degree, please complete the online application by the deadline (15.01./15.07.) and submit the documents by post.

You can submit the certificate by scan until the start of the allocation process. Your responsible clerk in the Student Secretariat will be happy to provide you with information on this.

If you do not yet have a Bachelor's certificate at the time of your Master's application, please enclose the following provisional Bachelor's certificate completed by your university with your application.

Here you will find further information for internal applicants. Internal applicants should use this application for a provisional Bachelor's certificate to obtain a provisional Bachelor's certificate.


In order to participate in the award procedure for our Master's programs, a maximum of 30 ECTS as well the final thesis must not yet have been earned.

If the university of the first degree program certifies that a successful completion of studies is to be expected on the basis of the previous study achievements, an admission may be granted with reservations.

Bachelor's degree programmes

To cater for a growing number of incoming international students and to encourage student and staff exchange with a global network of partner universities, the core modules of the following Bachelor programmes are taught in English. - But please note that these programmes require a German language certificate for admission.

Master's degree programmes

For most programmes, the language of instruction is German and you will need a German language certificate for admission.

The programmes listed below use English as the sole language of instruction. You will need a TOEFL certificate for instruction.

8% of the offered study places per study programme will be allocated to applicants from non-EU countries.

The study places for the 1st semester for locally restricted Bachelor's courses are allocated according to a specific selection procedure.

At hochschulstart.de, admissions are issued according to the priorities you have entered. Prioritization means that you determine the ranking of the desired degree programs. Priority 1 must therefore be given to the course of your choice. The prioritization is crucial for the approval process.

The opportunity to prioritize begins with the submission of your application (s) and ends when the coordination phase ends.

International applicants for Medical Informatics ("Medizinische Informatik") do not have to send their documents to the Center for International Students in Konstanz. They only have to send their documents to Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences.

A pre-study internship is no longer absolutely necessary for studying at Heilbronn University.

The university orientation semester HORSE makes it possible to get to know the numerous courses at Heilbronn University, to get a taste of campus life and even to take exams that can be credited to a later course of study. For one semester you can take part in various courses such as lectures, practical laboratory exercises, excursions or colloquia in the fields of technology, business and computer science to find out which course is right for you.

Admission / Enrollment

Bachelor programmes

If you have received an admission offer for the 1st semester of Heilbronn University of Applied Science, you can accept it on hochschulstart.de

As soon as you accept an admission offer online, you must enroll in writing within 10 days.

You will find step-by-step- instructions in the online help at hochschulstart.de.

If you have received an admission offer for a higher semester at Heilbronn University of Applied Science, you can accept it directly at eCampus.

Master programmes

If you have received an admission letter from Heilbronn University, please send us the required documents by post. You will find the enrollment deadline on your admission letter.

You must complete online enrollment on the university's eCampus within the deadline set in the letter of admission.

With the application for enrollment, you can then enroll in person or by post at the registration office on the campus Sontheim.

If you are not present at this time, the enrollment can be carried out by a person authorized by you. You need this Vollmacht for this.

Please inform your health insurance company that you will study at Heilbronn University. If you are privately insured, you can request confirmation from any statutory health insurance company.
Therefore, you must provide the health insurance company with the sender number of Heilbronn University.

Sender number of Heilbronn University: H0000366

The insurance confirmation will be digitally transmitted from the health insurance company to the university, usually by the next working day. It is no longer necessary for you to send an insurance certificate.

Bachelor programmes

  • If you have not yet registered, no cancellation is required.

  • If you have accepted the offer of admission / registered yourself and do not want to study within 4 weeks after the start of the lecture, please notify the responsible clerk in writing / by e-mail at the registration office.

  • Exmatriculation is required from 4 weeks after the start of the lecture.

Master programmes

CampusCard

Further information on the CampusCard is available here:

The CampusCard can be reported as lost at any time online via the Payment Portal using the "Request replacement card" function under "My data". This will block the card and trigger the printing of a replacement card.

Please note: There may be a fee for printing a replacement card. If it is not possible to block it via the Payment Portal, the loss of the CampusCard can, in exceptional cases, be reported to the relevant clerk for your degree program at the Student Administration Office (CampusCard Administration). The quick blocking of the card is necessary to protect access, credit and other functions from misuse. When the replacement card is created, all settings, such as the previous credit, are automatically transferred to the new card.

  1. Activated data center account 
  2. Complete enrollment documents (no blocking notice missing documents)
  3. Passport photo uploaded (in the online enrollment at e-campus)

If these requirements are met, you will receive a registration email for the CampusCard at your university email address (Matrikelnummer@stud.hs-heilbronn.de)

Then follow the link in the mail (confirm terms and conditions, upload picture ...)

You will then receive an activation email on Matrikelnummer@stud.hs-heilbronn.de

If these steps have been carried out correctly, card production will take place in a timely manner. You will receive the CampusCard from the person responsible for your degree program at the Student Administration Office by post (within one week). Exchange students receive the CampusCard from the International Office.
