OTE certificate for studying abroad or job applications

The OTE assesses your current language level in General English. You may need this certificate for internships or job applications as well as when studying abroad. Students of Heilbronn University who apply for a semester abroad at our partner universities usually need a DAAD-Certificate to prove their knowledge of English. The results from the OTE can be used to issue this certificate.

Please note: Students are responsible for informing themselves about the language requirements of the desired university abroad and, if necessary, to register for the language test in due time. Contact your international office for details.

The OTE scale corresponds to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

You are given both a score for each module and an overall score which provides your general level of English.

No. The OTE is not a pass-or-fail test. The test results show the level of reading and listening comprehension as well as the ability to speak and write English.

However, it is of course possible not to achieve the required number of points for a certain level, which is required as proof of language ability for a certain purpose.

Your results for the Listening and Reading modules will be available immediately after the test.

Your results for Speaking and Writing will be ready within 14 days.

Sign in to your personal account in the Oxford University Press system to see your results and print out your certificate.
