By using the application the imaging with an achromatic objective can be visualized. The objective consists of two lenses without an air gap. Especially the property of color correction of the primary spectrum can be tested by changing lens materials and curvatures. By equalizing both lens materials the properties of a single lens can also be examined.

The applet visualize the rotationally symmetric irradiance profile which is generated by an incoherent on axis point source together with a centered spherical lens. The applet allows to change basic parameter of the lens, the source and the detector, some by sliders. With an algorithm based on differential optics the applet calculates the irradiance profile nearly instantly also in the precence of a caustic with comparable results to a time consuming Monte Carlo simulation.
