Quantencomputing Ringvorlesung "What if...?"

Lecture series in the summer semester on the transformative possibilities of quantum computing

What if… How could quantum computing change computer science?

The fundamental theoretical formulations of quantum mechanics were developed 100 years ago. Today, quantum mechanics influences numerous areas of life, from culture and art to IT.

Quantum computing is at the forefront of current developments and has the potential to revolutionize many areas. Although it is still in its infancy, its development promises to have a profound impact on computer science and beyond.

This lecture series explores how subfields of computer science must transform and adapt in order to remain fit for the future. Individual contributions take a look at related disciplines and explore the possibilities that quantum computing could offer in medicine or materials science, for example.

The lecture series is aimed at students, researchers, industry professionals and anyone interested in learning more about the exciting possibilities of quantum computing. Previous knowledge of quantum mechanics or computer science is helpful, but not essential. The individual dates can be attended independently of each other. The lecture language will be German or English.

The first lecture series is expected to take place on April 8, 2025 at 16:00.

More information on the individual dates in the coming days and weeks here on this website. Stay tuned.
