Participating universities:

Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences (Heilbronn) - California State University, Dominguez Hills (Carson)

COIL project description:

Students from California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) and Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences are investigating in a three-week project how the Digital Transformation can affect the protection of endangered species and are exploring the strengths and weaknesses of conservation measures from a biological, cultural and technological perspective. The aim of this course, which is offered both as part of a software engineering course and as part of the Studium Generale, is to understand and evaluate - in interdisciplinary and international teams - the importance of different technologies for achieving SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).

Students from CSUDH approach the topic from a predominantly biological perspective, while students from Heilbronn University focus mainly on the technological aspects. The international teams create an infographic together that illustrates their results.
