Professor Dr.-Ing. Annett Grossmann studied mechanical engineering at Chemnitz University of Technology, specializing in business organization, ergonomics and logistics. Prior to her studies, she completed vocational training as a toolmaker in conjunction with a general higher education entrance qualification.
After completing her studies, Prof. Grossmann worked as a research assistant at the University of Kassel in the Institute of Ergonomics. During this time, she was also a scholarship holder in accordance with the Hessian law for the promotion of young scientists (promotion of talented students).
At the University of Kassel, Prof. Grossmann worked on the flexibilization of quality management systems as part of the introduction of ISO 9000ff. She completed her doctorate in engineering in 1998 with the title “Flexible quality management system for small and medium-sized companies” with the grade “very good”. Another focus of her work was the acquisition, processing, coordination and management of research and consulting projects.
From 1998 to 2005, Prof. Grossmann worked as Purchasing and Quality Manager in Houston, TX, USA in the American subsidiary of a German manufacturer of industrial fittings and coordinated procurement and distribution logistics as well as quality management. Due to the language skills she gained there, Prof. Grossmann also supervises bachelor's and master's theses in English.
From 2005 to 2015, she was head of the International Purchasing department at AKG Verwaltungsgesellschaft in Hofgeismar, Hesse, where she was responsible for organizing supply chain management for international procurement projects, e.g. in Turkey, India, China and South Africa, as well as coordinating procurement logistics and materials management for suppliers from low-wage countries. She also focused on projects to optimize shipping logistics.
In September 2015, Prof. Grossmann accepted a position at Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences as Professor of Business Organization and Technical Logistics. Her lectures focus on the areas of
