Mission of the ITTH

The ITTH is an internal research institute of Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences at the faculty of International Business. Its objective is to bundle the existing research competence in the fields of tourism, travel, and hospitality at Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences and to provide a go-to-place for the tourism industry for tourism research related issues. Morover, its role is to facilitate the exchange between academia and the tourism, travel & hospitality industry, as well as to increase national and international cooperations and networks in tourism research. 

Objectives of the ITTH:

  • Bundling of research activitites in the fields of tourism, travel & hospitality in one institute.
  • Increased publication activity through exchange and team work in the institute.
  • Competing for research funds and grants in the domain of tourism, travel & hospitality.
  • Driving internationalization of our own tourism research and German tourism research.
  • Integrating and winning students at an early stage into the research process and supporting their growth.

Founding Ceremony of the ITTH

Good news for Heilbronn as a Tourism Research Hub: The Senate of Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences positively acknowledged the request of (from left to right) the co-founders  Prof. Dr. Christian Buer, Prof. Dr. Stephan Bingemer, and Prof. Dr. Ralf Vogler to found the Institute of Tourism, Travel & Hospitality. 

In its first official meeting, the founding members approved the statutes of the institute and elected Prof. Dr. Bingemer (middle) as the institute director and Prof. Dr. Ralf Vogler as the deputy director (right hand side).

The institute is open to all researchers at Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences that perform research in one of the institute's core fields: Tourism, travel, and hospitality or its adjacent fields. TFC
